Low or No Water Flowing Through Ionizer

There could be a number of issues preventing water from flowing through your water ionizer properly.  The troubleshooting steps below are the steps your dealer or the Tyent USA technician will take you through when you call to report this type of problem.

By going through these steps before contacting your dealer or Tyent USA technical support you will speed up the time it takes to resolve the issue.  Be sure to tell the dealer or Tyent technician you speak with the troubleshooting steps you have completed and the result at each step.  This will help them diagnose and help resolve the issue more quickly.

**If you have just installed your water ionizer, verify that you have the hoses connected to the correct ports.  Hose coming from the water supply (faucet diverter or T-adapter) is connected to the port labeled "in" or "inflow" and the hose hanging into the sink is connected to the port labeled "out" or "outflow" before moving on to the troubleshooting checklist.***

If water is flowing through the unit but

  • the flow rate is slower than it has been in the past
  • you have noticed white scale buildup at the tip of the dispenser hose or
  • have repeatedly cleaned scale buildup from the end of the dispenser hose and
  •  you have never run a cleaning cartridge....

the reduction in flow rate is likely due to scale buildup inside the unit.  Running a cleaning cartdridge at least once a year is recommended and it could resolve your issue.Purchase Cleaning Cartridge

Here are the troubleshooting steps the technician will ask you to perform when you call to report a flow rate issue:

Step 1:  Verify Water from Source

If you are using a faucet diverter, turn water on at the tap and make sure it flows through the tap.  If no water is flowing through, turn the lever or knob on the diverter as far as possible to the left and then to the right.

If you are unable to get water to flow through at all, contact the dealer who sold you the water ionizer - there is likely a problem with your diverter.

 Faucet Adapter Flowing to Sink

If you are using a T-adapter connection, make sure that the T-adapter lever is set to the "open" position - on occassion your T-adapter lever may get "bumped" which can close the water flow either fully or partially.

Check T-adapter

Once you have confirmed that water is flowing to/through your faucet diverter (or that your T-adapter is set to the "open" position, try turning the unit on again.  If you are still experiencing the same problem, proceed to the next step.

Step 2:  Check for Blockage in Dispenser Hose

Remove the dispenser hose from the unit and blow through it.  If there is no obstruction you should be able to blow through the dispenser hose freely like you would blow through a straw.

If there is no discernable blockage in the dispenser hose, proceed to Step 3.

If you find there is blockage, follow the instructions below.

Remove Dispenser Hose

If you have any difficulties blowing through the diverter there may be scale build-up blocking the dispenser hose.

Soak the hose in white vinegar for 30 minutes to an hour.  Using a turkey baster or something similar, attempt to force vinegar through the hose before you start the soak and again after the dispenser hose has soaked to remove any scale particles trapped inside.

Flush the dispenser hose with running water before re-attaching to the ionizer to ensure that water is flowing through properly and to remove any lingering vinegar residue.

Checking Dispenser Hose Flow-thru

After reattaching the dispenser hose, try the unit again.

If you are still experiencing low or no flow rate, proceed to the next step.

Step 3:  Check for Filter Blockage

MAKE SURE WATER IS BEING SUPPLIED TO THE UNIT

Remove the ACF or 1st filter from inside the unit.

Removing ACF Filter

Place a glass or cup under the opening where you just removed the filter and turn the unit on.

Placing Glass Under Filter Opening

If water is flowing freely through the opening and into the glass there may be an issue with the filter.  Contact the dealer who sold you the water ionizer or Tyent USA.

 Filling glass through filter opening

If NO water is flowing into the glass, verify that the water *is* being supplied to the unit and try again.

If you are still unable to get water to flow through the filter opening OR if water is only flowing through at a very small amount, proceed to step 4.

Step 4:  Check for Input Line Blockage

SHUT OFF WATER SUPPLY TO THE UNIT

If you are connecting using a faucet diverter, turn the water off at the tap.

If you are connecting using a T-adapter, flip the lever on the adapter to the "off/closed" position.

Check T-adapter

Remove the hose from the port on the back of the unit labeled "inflow" or "in."

You will need to press down/in on the compression ring at the port while pulling the hose out.

If you are having difficulty removing the hose, don't force it, ask for assistance and have someone pull the hose out while you are pressing down/in on the compression ring.

 Removing Hose

Once you have removed the hose from the in/inflow port, put the line into the sink.

Using a faucet diverter - turn the water on at the tap and then divert water to the line to verify that water is flowing from the adapter to the sink.

Using a T-adapter - with the hose from the in/inflow port in the sink, flip the diverter lever on the T-adapter to verify that water is flowing from the adapter into the sink.

 Checking flow through supply hose

If water is flowing through the line, reconnect the line to the water ionizer and try turning it on again.

If water is NOT flowing through the line OR water did flow through the line but not through the unit when you reconnected and tried the unit again, contact the dealer who sold you the unit or Tyent USA.

If you purchased your water ionizer through Tyent SuperStore, we offer full technical support during normal business hours.  You can call us at (877) 577-1078 and we'll help you resolve the issue.

If you purchased your water ionizer through another dealer, contact them first - they should be able to help you with the issue or provide another number to call for further assistance.
