How to Use the Tyent Cleaning Cartridge
Using a cleaning cartridge at least once every 12 to 18 months will help maintain the long-term performance of your Tyent water ionizer.
Step 1: Remove 2nd Filter (Ceramic Filter)

Step 2: Insert Cleaning Cartridge in 2nd Filter Position

Step 3: Adjust the Water Temperature if Possible.
If your unit is connected directly to your faucet, adjust the temperature of the water to "hot." The water should be hot to the touch - like you might use for washing dishes - but NOT "scalding" hot.
If your unit is connected directly to the cold water line below the sink and you are unable to adjust the water temperature, the cleaning cartidge will still work just fine but the cleaning may take a few minutes longer.
Step 4: Turn Unit on Using the "H2O" Icon.
**IMPORTANT** Never run the unit at an alkaline or acidic setting with the cleaning cartridge installed - ONLY use the H2O setting.
Touch the "H2O" icon near the center of the control panel.

Step 5: Allow the Unit to Run for 30 Minutes
Tyent water ionizers have a 15 minute safety cut-off to prevent overflow. You will want to go back and check the unit after about 15 minutes - if the safety feature has stopped water from flowing through the unit, simply restart the unit by touching the H2O icon again and allowing the unit to run for another 15 minutes.
Step 6: Cool/Flush the Unit
If you used hot water to run the cleaning cartridge it is strongly recommended that you cool down the internal components of the unit. This is done by adjusting the water temperature at the tap to "cold" then turning the unit back on at the H2O setting and allowing the "cold" tap water to flow through the unit.
You should run cold water through the unit until the temperature of the water coming from the dispenser hose feels the same on your hand as the temperature of the water that flows through your tap. Depending on the temperature of your tap water it can take 2 to 5 minutes to cool the unit down.
If you did NOT use hot water for the cleaning procedure you should still allow clean water to flow for an extra 2 to 5 minutes to flush any remaining citric acid powder from the system.
Step 7: Remove Cleaning Cartridge
After you remove the cleaning cartidge you may want to drain it before discarding.

Step 8: Re-insert the Ceramic Filter in the 2nd Filter Position

Last Steps -
Once the Ceramic filter has been re-installed you can close up the filter area, return your Tyent water ionizer to its usual position on your counter and you're ready to go!
