Diaper rash and heat rash are both caused by excess moisture being trapped next to the skin.  In the case of diaper rash, the acidic nature of what ultimately ends up in your baby's diaper can contribute to the condition.  The salt in prespiration being trapped next to the skin can cause painful flare-ups.
