UV light technology has been around since the mid 1900’s and is an effective way of reducing the threat of infection from waterborne bacteria.  Before you decide to invest in a water ionizer that uses UV light technology there are a few things you need to know.

There are a number of variables that can alter the effectiveness of UV light technology. 

Shower filters are great for removing chlorine and other contaminants that can be absorbed by the skin or inhaled as steam in the shower.  The downside - the way the shower filter can lower the head of your shower by two to five inches. 

Another downside to shower filters that you won’t hear a lot about is how hot water can reduce the effectiveness of the filtration media.  I don’t know about you but I prefer a hot shower.  As it turns out, hot water actually reduces the effectiveness of the filtration media found in most shower filters.

Recently my mother traveled to Mt. Shasta, California, for two weeks.   She has been drinking alkaline water for many years now, but when it came time to pack for the trip she decided not to pack her H2Go portable water ionizer.  Her reasons seemed logical, the water in Mt.
